Welcome

Welcome to my adventure in blogging. As the new Instructional Technology Facilitator in two schools (East Wake SAEGS and Forestville Road Elementary), I am excited to have the opportunity to share new resources with you and work with you to use them in your classrooms. I know how busy you are, and also how overwhelming it can be to try and learn, understand, and incorporate all the new information that you are receiving each month. My goal is to make your life easier not more complicated. I will be sharing new ideas and Web2.0 tools that are available, but I will also be here to support you when you need me. Since my two schools are at opposite ends of the spectrum, I will be presenting ideas that span the PreK-12 spectrum. Some of my posts will obvioiusly not meet your needs, but keep an open mind and please keep following along because eventually I will find the perfect gem for you.

Today I want to present video prompts for writing activities which might be a fun way to get your students to do some holiday themed writing. There are of course millions of videos on YouTube that can be used for this purpose, but then you have to search through them all, find one that fits your needs and come up with a good prompt to go with it. I don't know about you but I have too much shopping, wrapping, and baking to do this week, to spend time on YouTube. So instead try TeachHub for some ready to go video prompts, that even differentiate for different grade levels. For this last few days before break you may want to try one of these Video Prompts with your students.

There is also daily-writing-prompt.com which has some additonal videos, but each only provides one prompt. The prompt is rather broad in most cases and can be used for multiple grade levels. Most of the videos on both sites are short (2-4 minutes), but please be sure to view them first before sharing with students.

I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas break and get all the rest and relaxation you deserve.
